TAYLOR BAKKEN

grew up in the land of -60°F winters and the home of Prince. However, her Minnesotan household was more preoccupied with Jimmy Buffett versus Purple Rain. She believes her early education with Jimmy, David Bowie, and Frank Zappa answers a lot of questions about her work.

During college, Taylor became fascinated with film, but there were zero courses offered on the subject, prompting a bit of self-education. She graduated with a degree in Music Business and German, yet her thesis project was a “business plan” for making a film. Even so, music was the obvious next step at the time. Taylor cut her teeth at the world-famous venue First Avenue in the finance department. This was her first foray into the entertainment industry - but it was just outside of the good stuff.

After experiencing all facets of live music, Taylor decided to make the jump into film and moved to LA without knowing a single soul in the industry. She temped her way to assistant positions, and by a sheer stroke of luck found herself working in development for Susan and Robert Downey Jr.

For those three years with the Downeys, Taylor began to hone in on what kind of artist she wanted to be, and what kind of stories she wanted to tell. She made a couple of short films with a few friends, falling into filmmaking head first. This then prompted a change of scenery - Taylor began working with Patty Jenkins, and remains her right hand to this day.

Throughout her wildly ranging experiences, Taylor has learned from the best of the best how to tell a tightly woven story, how to lean into absurdity while staying grounded, all while developing her own visual style. Fruit is just the beginning.
